Three Reasons You Should Be Using Social Media in Your Music Therapy Business

We all know that social media is here to stay, and it is truly essential these days to incorporate social media into your business marketing plan.

At times, social media gets a bad rap. But there are so many benefits of using social media, especially for your music therapy business.

1. Connect & Be An Expert

There are so many opportunities on social media to make connections with your target audience.

For example, you can search specific #hashtags on Twitter, you can join local community groups on Facebook, you can learn tips about building your business via Pinterest, or you can make professional connections on LinkedIn.

The possibilities are endless.

It is also useful to know that each social media platform has its’ own quirks and unique features — get to know each platform before jumping in. Not sure which social media network to use? Read this post.

Once you’ve decide which platform(s) to use and which ones work well for your business, it’s time to join in the conversation. Go above and beyond to be helpful online — just like you already do in your business.  Offer your expertise and your support to those you interact with online.

Being helpful and being an expert online will lead to maintaining and nurturing professional connections — in the future, when someone needs a question answered, YOU will be the first person to be asked.

2. Website Traffic

Social media is great to use when trying to drive more traffic to your website.

Social media can connect even more people to the heart of your business — your offerings, your opportunities, your classes, your products, and much more.

➙ PRO TIP: Make sure all of your social media profiles link back to your website. Take a little time also make sure your visuals (cover photos, headers, logos, profile pictures) are up-to-date and consistent across platforms.

3. Brand & Business Recognition

Display your personality on social media. Social media is not all biz and selling all the time. It’s not calling selling media — it’s SOCIAL media. Be social. Show your humorous side. Share a behind-the-scenes look into your business.

For my business, I tend to show my humorous side to connect with my audience. My latest meme below ⬎ had over 15,000 views on Facebook alone.

Another side of social media is letting others know when you have a positive or negative experience. When your clients/caregivers compliment your business and your work, they will often turn to social media to do so. Social media is an extension of “word-of-mouth” marketing.
